Army Visibility

Army Visibility allows session administrators to control which armies can see each other during a game.
This mechanism is a core tool for managing information flow, alliances, and narrative changes in complex scenarios.

Visibility settings are available only to session administrators.

According to the image above, players of the orange army can see players of the blue and red armies. However, green players are not visible on the map to orange players.

How to access army visibility settings

To manage army visibility, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the session using the administrator password.
  2. Open the session management menu.
  3. Select Armies.
  4. A list of all armies in the session will appear.
  5. Select the army you want to edit.
  6. Open the Visibility tab.

You are now editing the visibility rules for the selected army.

Configuring visibility between armies

Inside the Visibility tab, you can define which other armies are visible to the currently edited army.

  • Each army in the session is listed.
  • Visibility is controlled using switches.
  • For each listed army, you can enable or disable visibility independently.

These settings determine whether players of the selected army can see:

  • player positions,
  • markers,
  • and other army-related information on the map.

Visibility rules are directional – visibility must be configured separately for each army.

Gameplay and narrative context

In large-scale events, it is common to have multiple factions participating in a single session.

Most scenarios start with:

  • two main opposing forces (for example, Blue vs Yellow),
  • plus one or more additional factions.

These additional factions often play a dynamic narrative role.
For example:

  • a rebel faction initially cooperates with the Blue army,
  • later, due to story events or mission outcomes, switches allegiance to the Yellow army.

Using army visibility settings, the game administrator can reflect these changes instantly:

  • disable visibility between Blue and Rebels,
  • disable visibility between Rebels and Blue,
  • enable visibility between Rebels and Yellow,
  • enable visibility between Yellow and Rebels.

This allows alliances and hostilities to change without restarting the session or moving players between armies.

Why army visibility matters

Army visibility gives organizers precise control over:

  • information sharing,
  • fog of war,
  • alliances and betrayals,
  • and story-driven progression during the game.

It enables dynamic, evolving scenarios while keeping the interface consistent and predictable for players.
