Shared Markers

Shared Markers turn the map into a live, collaborative workspace shared by all players in a session.
They allow teams to mark important locations, share situational awareness, and coordinate actions without relying solely on voice communication.

Markers are designed to be simple, flexible, and fully integrated with other core systems in Airsoft Force Tracking.

Creating and managing markers

Markers are shared objects within a session.

Any player (from same army) can:

  • add a marker,
  • modify an existing marker,
  • or remove a marker when it is no longer relevant.

Markers are not locked to individual users. They reflect the current state of the battlefield, not personal notes.

Adding a marker

Markers are added using the Property Panel, displayed on the right side of the screen.

To add a new marker:

  1. Position the map so the red crosshair indicates the desired location.
  2. In the Property Panel, tap Add Marker Here.

A new marker is instantly placed on the map at that location.

Default marker naming

When created, each marker automatically receives a generated name based on the NATO phonetic alphabet, such as:

  • ALPHA
  • BRAVO
  • CHARLIE

This makes markers easy to reference over radio communication and immediately usable without additional setup.

Marker names and other properties can be changed at any time via the Property Panel.

Marker appearance and ownership

Markers are displayed as diamond-shaped icons.

Each marker uses the color of the army to which its creator belongs.
This provides instant visual context and helps identify the origin of shared information during multi-army sessions.

Naming and labeling markers

To improve clarity, markers can be customized:

  • markers can be given custom names,
  • markers can be assigned letter identifiers.

All customization options are available in the Property Panel after tapping on a marker.

This allows teams to reference markers clearly, for example:

  • “Move to marker BRAVO”
  • “Defend marker CHARLIE”

Using markers as order targets

Shared Markers integrate directly with the order system.

Orders can be issued to players using a marker as the target, ensuring that objectives remain consistent and easy to identify.

This is especially useful when coordinating multiple players around a fixed point of interest.

Marker visibility and army relationships

Marker visibility follows the same rules as army visibility.

If the session administrator changes army relationships:

  • markers belonging to newly allied armies may become visible,
  • markers from armies that are no longer visible will disappear from the map.

This allows organizers to dynamically control information flow and reflect narrative changes during gameplay.

Markers automatically adapt to visibility changes – no manual cleanup is required.

Why shared markers matter

Shared Markers help:

  • maintain a common tactical picture,
  • reduce misunderstandings,
  • and support coordinated decision-making.

They scale naturally from small skirmishes to large multi-faction events and work seamlessly with orders, visibility rules, and session management.
