Airsoft Force Tracking allows you to switch between two different map views, depending on the scale of the game and the level of detail you need. This feature is designed to keep the map readable and useful both during small skirmishes and large-scale events with hundreds of players.
What the two views represent
The two views do not change the session itself.
They change how the same battlefield data is presented.
Player View
Player View shows the map at the individual level.
In this mode:
- every player is displayed as a separate icon,
- each icon uses the player’s individual unit type,
- player statuses (hit, medic, support) are visible,
- orders assigned to players are clearly shown.
This view is best suited for:
- small and medium-sized games,
- squad-level coordination,
- medics and team leaders,
- situations where individual positioning matters.
Team View
Team View shows the map at the unit level.
In this mode:
- individual player icons are hidden,
- each team is displayed as a single icon,
- the icon uses the team’s unit type,
- the team’s position is calculated as an average position of active players,
- the team’s defined strength is displayed above the icon.
Players who are:
- marked as hit,
- or offline for a longer time,
are excluded from the position calculation, ensuring that the displayed location represents active forces only.
This view is designed for:
- large events with many participants,
- commanders and organizers,
- high-level situational awareness and force distribution.
Why switching views matters
As the number of players grows, showing every individual quickly becomes unreadable.
Team View solves this by reducing visual noise while preserving tactical meaning.
At the same time, Player View remains available whenever precise, individual-level information is required.
This ability to change the level of abstraction is a key element of real command-and-control systems — and one of the areas where AFT goes beyond simple tracking apps.
How to switch between views
Switching views is simple and instant.
To change the map view:
- Open the Navigation Menu.
- Use the toggle Show Players / Show Teams.
The map updates immediately.
No data is lost, and no session settings are changed — only the presentation.
One session, two perspectives
Both views use the same underlying session data.
You can switch between them at any time, depending on what you need to see in that moment.
This makes Airsoft Force Tracking flexible enough to support:
- fast-paced action on the ground,
- and structured command decisions at scale.
